专利摘要:
A liquid crystal for use in liquid crystal display devices comprises at least one material from group 1 comprising:- at least one of the group 1 materials having n = 2, or 4; at least one material from group 2 comprising: together with an ester liquid crystal material. The ester forms between 10% and 90% (preferably between 30% and 70%) by weight of the total mixture and the group 2 material forms between 5% and 30% by weight of the total mixture. Examples of the esters have the general formula where R1, R2 represent alkyl or alkoxy groups, and and where R3, R4 represent alkyl groups. All alkyl and alkoxy end groups are unbranced.

The liquid crystal mixtures according to examples 1-38 are placed in a display cell formed by the front and rear glass plates with a distance of 7 µm. A polarizer is located in front of the front glass plate, the polarization axis of which is horizontal.
talnoy. When a zero voltage is applied to the cell, the light passes through the front polarizer, through the cell (in this case its polarization plane is rotated 90), through the rear polarizer to the reflector, from which it reflects back to the observer. When a voltage is applied between the two electrodes that overlaps the threshold value, the liquid crystal layer loses its rotational force. Thus, the light in this position does not reach the reflector and does not reflect back to the observer, who sees a dark display with one or more number of lines of the figure (10). The state of the CPSU (on) corresponds to the transmission of 10% of the maximum possible light and is denoted by and, o ( 0 °), i.e. 10% transmittance at the angle of incidence O o The OFF state (off) corresponds to 90% transmittance and is indicated as Ugg (45 °), i.e. 90% transmittance at an incidence angle of 45. For a unique UHSE display, it should be lower than Ugo (45) and yk / (higher than U (o (0 °) s) Since the ideal ratio of Chi (O) / Ugg (45) is 1 unattainable, the closer it is to the liquid crystal mixture to 1.
the better and larger the range of acceptable viewing angles. Another important characteristic is the variation of the test with temperature: 1 / U (li / RT). If there is a change in voltage over the temperature range DT from O to, and and is the average voltage, therefore, the smaller the ratio 1 f li (0 °),
and
above the temperature range of good display performance.
The prototype of the invention is a mixture of E7. which contains, wt.%.

Characteristics of the mixtures in examples t-39 are given in the table.
As can be seen from the table, the liquid crystal mixture according to the invention has better characteristics as compared with E7, which makes it possible to use it in complex displays with better results.
